Tuggeranong Homestead Wedding | Anne and Ben

January 12, 2020

Tuggeranong Homestead is renown in Canberra for being a rustic venue, bringing the feel of a countryside-based homestead to the inner south of Canberra.

It is one of my favourite rustic venues in Canberra and for a good reason. Anne and Jerry have done an incredible job of looking after the historic homestead, and it shows with the attention to details around the whole area. From the gigantic cart in the rafters of the dining shed, to the iconic old machine workshop with open barn doors on top, Tuggarnong Homestead is a sight to behold.

It also provides a kick-ass field, complete with grand trees for you nature-loving nerds, and a whole bunch of animals. You’ll see in the below images that Ben, Anne and myself found a rather charming horse which wanted to follow us everywhere.

The most noticeable thing about Tuggeranong Homestead really is that it doesn’t look like you’re anywhere near the city.

Anne and Ben reached out as they wanted to have a laid-back wedding but equally a bunch of fun.

Anne and Ben loved the idea of having a first look for their day. I’ve talked about ‘first looks’ before and how incredible they can be for couples who prefer a more private first reveal.

The great thing about Tuggeranong Homestead is that it makes you the whole wedding experience a complete breeze. Everything from getting ready spots, to couples photos, to insanely cool buildings for your reception, it has everything. Reducing the stress on your wedding day is what a great day should all be about.

Anne and Ben have this really awesome relaxed vibe to their life, but with lots of fun, adventure sprinkled in there as well. Bright colours and red adorned their day, and I loved the colour palette they went for! You can see just how much it stands out against the fantastic backdrop of the homestead.

When Anne and Ben had their first look, it was full of smiles and warmth. You can tell that Anne and Ben are a bloody good team, and this little showcase together was a testament to that.

My favourite part of the whole day had to be when we came across the horse in the paddock. So while the horse looked absolutely adorable, he was getting a little bit too friendly with the flowers that Anne had. So trying to evade him became a little bit of a game!
