Sometimes there are sessions which I’m a part of which just blow my mind. This was one of these sessions and is a prime example of how great Canberra, ACT photography, can be.

I’d met Michael and Samantha over a nice cold beer at Bentspoke brewery and we had a good chat about what they would love their session to be like. I couldn’t believe it when they told me that they actually had a couple of vintage sports cars that they wanted to bring along and incorporate as part of the session.

Mind blown, I was so ready for this engagement session which we planned to do at the awesome graffiti wall in Gungahlin. If you’ve never been to this beautiful and creative hangout, it’s something special. Laden with graffiti from artists in Canberra, this underpass has been the perfect place for budding and established street artists to paint their work, all on legal ground.

Engagement sessions are always so insightful and heartwarming. Ditching the traditional ‘smile at the camera’ style posing, I opt for a much more organic and comfortable way to capture those little moments. Listening to what Samantha thought of Michael the first time she saw him, and understanding what brought these two together was amazing, and I can’t thank Samantha and Michael for allowing me to be there to listen to their story.

Finishing off the session in style, Michael, Samantha and I travelled to one of the quiet ends of Horse Park Drive up near the top of Canberra for some awesome vintage car shots. These cars rocked the whole earth when fired up, and these final shots were some of my favourites from the session.

Please enjoy these images from the engagement session!
