I remember when I first came to Australia back in January 2014, one of the most common things I used to hear apart from ‘don’t get in the water in Queensland’, was ‘Canberra is dull, why are you traveling there?’. Well, I traveled there because my sister has actually lived in Australia since 2010 in Canberra, and I decided to pay her a visit on my brief 2-week trip to the land down under.
I loved Canberra when I got here. It had so much charm, and so much to do. That was back in 2014. Since becoming a permanent resident, and cementing myself here for the foreseeable future, I’ve fallen even more in love with it, especially as I learn more and more about the landscape and surrounds of Canberra.
Booroomba Rocks are one of those places which takes your breath away, literally after the thirty minute or so hike up the mountain, and metaphorically after seeing the view.
I wanted to capture a session that really epitomised ‘elopement’. Working with the gorgeous Lorna Munroe and her partner Harry was a real pleasure, and taking the time to get to know these two was a joy in of itself.
Booroomba Rocks really is such a sight to see and because of the track upwards to the top of the summit, it was only wise that suitable hiking gear was brought along! It’s moments like these that I’m very thankful for my mobile changing tent, which helped Lorna and Harry feel a bit more of the part once we’d sweated ourselves out in the climb!
One of Canberra’s most incredible things is its creative community and the work that it all puts in. I’ve been a long time fan of Moxom and Whitney, one of the finest florists in all of Canberra and the surrounding areas, and so I was thrilled that they wanted to be involved in this session as well. Going above and beyond, they listened to what I needed for the session and created something beyond my own dreams for the session! A gorgeous sunflower bouquet, complete with a pinhole for Harry, and a headpiece for Lorna. I’m very sure you’ll agree with me that these pieces were absolutely beautiful, so if any brides are reading this and looking to get flowers for their wedding, please do yourself a favour and inquire with Moxom and Whitney. Loulou is especially nice there (they all are though to be honest!), and has a heart of gold!
I hope you enjoy this Booroomba Rocks Session!
