I recently got to spend some very amazing time with two lovely and super fun ladies at one of New South Wales most scenic hideaways; Forty Foot Falls.
I’ve worked with Tomasina before with a few fashion-related photoshoots, and I’d always heard so much about her absolutely awesome partner, Aoife. And yes, I looked up how exactly to pronounce such an amazing name because I know I’d stuff it up otherwise. Let me help you.
When I heard that they were keen as beans to go on a waterfall hunt for their adventure portrait session I was absolutely beside myself!
As with so many of my adventure sessions, we decided to carpool and go in my AWD. I actually love ride-sharing, not just to lessen our environmental impact, but also so that I get to talk to the awesome people I work with, and hang out. Being personal is such a big part of what I do, and chatting to Aoife and Tomasina was so much fun.
Another fun part of my adventure sessions is that sometimes even I won’t know where I’m going. Yup! However, that is the fun of these sessions. Either way you’re going to get kick-ass images, but joining in on that experience is what makes it so special sometimes.
To get to Forty Foot Falls you have to follow a series of red spray painted posts along a track. We soon developed a game for who can spot the next post, and Aoife seemed to be winning pretty heavily most of the time.
Hiking through dense fern scatted landscapes, and turquoise filled pools, we finally stumbled upon the impressive waterfall and let out of a huge sigh of relief. I remember getting to the base of the waterfall and feeling a refreshing wash over my face as I looked up and heard the constant splatter of water on these ancient rocks.
Spending time with Tomasina and Aoife was so much bloody fun. These two have such an amazing dynamic, and listening to the stories of how they met and fell in love really was something else.
