10+ Of The Oldest Wedding Photos Showing What Wedding Photos Looked Like 200 Years Ago

by Who shot the photographer

Today we can get incredibly beautiful and creative wedding photos, captured to perfection or photoshopping in magical ways.

However things were a little different a couple of hundred years ago, as seen in these stunning photographs from weddings from the 1800’s.

The 1800’s are recognised as the dawn of photographic history, with big events kicking off from 1839. Many different formats were pioneered and explored, including printing from glass to iron, to the inclusion of using lacquer to protect the image and prevent the iron from rusting (later known as ‘Tintype’).

Whilst today we have endless amounts of memory to capture beautiful moments, it made it all a lot more tense to capture that ‘one shot’ 200 years ago.

Keep scrolling for a collection of gorgeous centuries-old black and white photographs captured at the time when cameras were just finding their feet.
